Health is wellness of the body, the mind, and the soul; their alignment with one another is the art of living well.
Wisdom is understanding of the self, others, and the nature of things; it is essential to living as if everything is a miracle.
Oprah's Wisdom Words
Oprah is a celebrity, as well as a role model, for many of us. Her many-faceted success is a strong testament to her wisdom in living. She has lived her life by quotes and sayings from others as well as from herself. Likewise, we, too, can live our lives according to Oprah's wisdom words.
OPRAH: "when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it."
The problem is that many of us have a tendency to focus on our own problems: concerns and worries, frustrations and disappointments. They have become our self-centered distractions that prevent us from becoming aware of the goodness in our lives, not to mention noticing the goodness in others. As a result, we become judgmental of the self and others.
There is much wisdom in "no man is an island", which comes from the poet John Donne. Essentially, it means "the oneness of all life", that is,we are all inter-connected with one another somehow and somewhat. If we could see the goodness in others, we might also see the goodness in ourselves, instead of seeing the badness in others as well as in ourselves. Seeing goodness or badness is a choice -- just like seeing a glass half-full or half-empty.
Another problem is that we expect much too much in our lives -- that, ironically, may lead to our ul6timate negativity, just as the poet Alexander Pope said: "Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed."
